I got a call from my mom yesterday. She very nonchalantly told me she had to go to the hospital yesterday morning. I was like YOU went to the hospital for WHAT? It seems her calf muscle was hurting badly and they were worried she might have a blood clot. So she had an ultrasound and she was fine. She's just been walking too much after her knee replacement surgery, that's all. Then, just like she was telling me what she was having for lunch, she told me her sister had died earlier in the morning. She said she was going to be cremated and that she had wrote her up an obituary and everything. She reckoned she was a little bit worn out and I suggested she take a nap.
Mom's sister lead a fairly bad life and didn't take care of herself. I hadn't talked to her or her son since 1991, when I wrote them off my list. They always treated my grandparents very poorly and after my grandmother died I was done with them. Despite how I felt about her, she was my mother's sister and I do feel badly for my mom. She seems to be handling it well (but she always does handle death well). I worry about her because she just had her friend die and now her only sister.
Rich's grandmother is in the hospital. She needed two units of blood and her kidney functions are not doing so well. I am probably going to try and go see her today if I can find someone to watch the kids for a few. I also need to go see the Easter Bunny, if you know what I mean ;-)
I woke up this morning to quite the scene. It seems that my kids woke up before me and decided to let me sleep in!
Let's see if I can describe what I saw when I came down the stairs.
Will was buck naked and had poopy smeared up and down his legs. Apparently he had pooped in his pullup and took it off and decided that he needed to run around the house. Klara was on the tile entryway eating a bowl of Atkins cereal that Jared had fixed for her (YUCK!). She was in her nightgown wearing a baby bib that said "Wednesdays are Wonderful!" I grabbed Will and ran some bathwater and slam dunked his nasty butt in there when I heard Klara hollaring. I checked to see what the problem was and Klara was crying. It seemed that Marco, our cat, was eating her Atkins cereal. I told her that some black cat lips wouldn't hurt a thing, but she vehemently disagreed. *shrugs shoulders* I mean, he just eats moles and licks his butt, that's all. How bad is that? *snicker*
After getting everyone dressed we went to Jared's baseball game. I'm not sure who won because it seems they weren't keeping score. It's all good because they had fun, anyway. Plus we all got a little fresh air and sun.
We had a bit of excitement here the other day. As I was running my vacuum cleaner in the living room, it suddenly stopped. I heard a buzzy sound and turned around to see black smoke coming out from underneath the dimmer switch! The outlet that I had used was wired into the dimmer switch and, apparently, I burned it up. It was quite alarming! Rich took it all apart and capped the various wires off until our friend, who is an electrician, could come to our rescue. I'm happy to announce that we are back up and running without the smoke and fire. Whew!
Ok, so I need to go do something...like dispose of Jared's last frog who died....we are officially OUT of the frog business. We can't keep them suckers alive to save ourselves. But the two goldfish are still alive and Gary the snail. I guess we'll just stick with them.
I hope you all have a wonderful Easter and remember to attend church and celebrate the real reason for Easter!
