JANUARY 2005

 

January 2nd:    Saw my cousin, Perry, for the first time in nearly 16 years!

 

January 12th:   Found out my brother's soon-to-be ex wife was allowing her crazy boyfriend who was revoked for DUI's to drive my nephews around while she recuperated from having illegitimate twins....nice.  I vowed that something would be done or I would do it.

 

January 13th:   The police wouldn't do anything about the above situation, so I packed my stuff, drove 100 miles, staked out the creep and caught him driving the kids to school (doing up to 90 mph on the interstate!), called the cops and had him arrested.  Yay me!

 

January 18th:   My parents' dog, Whiskers, died.  We got him my senior year in high school.

 

January 23rd:    My brother had turned 30 the day before and Jared had his last basketball game.

 

January 31st:    Klara turned 3!!!

 

FEBRUARY 2005

 

February 7th:    Klara began her reign of terror creating many messes.  This particular day she found a bottle of blue acrylic paint and painted herself and her clothing.

 

February 11th:   Klara had managed to empty a whole container of kitty litter in the middle of a carpeted floor AND a day later empty a bottle of ketchup all inside her toy box.  Yeah...it's true.

 

February 15th:    Jared joined the cubscounts and Rich got hornswaggled into becoming "Scout Master."  This did not last long.  Klara obtained a bottle of baby oil and doused her and her brother.

 

February 22nd:   We began planning our trip to Emerald Isle, NC for vacation during the summer.

 

February 25th:    Ben Bowen, a local toddler, finally succumbed to brain cancer (ATRT).  His story had hit a soft spot in me and I had kept up with his story and liked sending him things & even had a fundraiser for him. 

 

MARCH 2005

 

March 11th:    Celebrated Jared's 6th birthday a day early.  Bought a playset for them that sat on the porch, unassembled, until summer. Hehehe...

 

March 12th:    Jared turns 6 years old!

 

March 13th:   Had a freak snow storm in March.  Ran outside and took the picture featured at the head of my blog.

 

March 20th:    Jared pukes everywhere in a restaurant after church.  Freaks dining patrons out!

 

APRIL 2005

 

April 1st:   My great-aunt Betty passed away.

 

April 10th:    Found out our minister was being transferred to another church.  Very sad.

 

April 28th:    My great-uncle Ray passed away.

 

MAY 2005

 

May 1st:   I finished wallpapering my bathroom!  Yay me!

 

May 5-7th:    Travelled to attend my Uncle Ray's funeral in Maryland.  Visited with family.  Jared & Rich went on a school trip to the Columbus Zoo.  Klara went to visit Grandma & Grandpa.  Will got to go to Maryland with me.

 

May 17th:    Jared has a playground accident on this day and sustains a complete fracture of his ulna & radius in his arm.  The radius popped out of the skin and he has to have surgery to have plates & screws put in.  He begins a several day hospital stay to receive IV antibiotics to keep from getting a bone infection.  If you would like to read about that from his perspective & see the special xrays, click here.   Be sure to scroll down to his October 6th entry, too, and see what happened there as well in 2004.  Ugh!

 

May 24th:   Will gets a fever & starts puking.  Lovely.

 

May 27th:    Now I have the fever...Great.

 

May 29th:   I reluctantly spend the night in a junior tent with Jared in our front yard since he missed his scout campout due to the broken arm. 

 

JUNE 2005

 

June 7th:   Rich's 33rd birthday!

 

June 8th:    Noticing that things are not right.  I am pretty ill, retaining fluid, numbness in my hands, arthritis in my hand and knee joints, strange rash....hehehehe....Fifth's Disease.  Lovely.

 

June 14th:    Rich has Fifth's Disease now and is crippled up.  The kids are going to take over the house. 

 

June 15th:    Found out that my very good long time friend had deceived me and wrote awful things about me.  Why not?  Minus a friend.

 

June 16th:    Klara has Fifth's Disease & wakes up crippled up and hurting. 

 

June 20th:   Jared got his cast off & we start pool setup!  Yay!

 

June 21st:    New baby born in the family to a cousin!  Yay!

 

June 25th:   My cousin's 18 year old son gets killed in a horrific car accident.

 

JULY 2005

 

July 4th:    I accidently drain our 3000 gallon pool.  Yes.  I did. 

 

July 5th:    My sister-in-law, Stacie, has a new baby!  Yay!

 

July 12th:    Rich finds out he has a kidney infection, pneumonia, and a strange place in his throat that he has yet to get checked out. 

 

July 15th:   The 16th anniversary of Rich & I's first date!

 

AUGUST 2005

 

August 3rd:   Got my hair cut for the first time in two years.

 

August 5-14th:    We're at the beach baby!  

 

August 26th:    Back to school shopping for Jared!

 

August 30th:   First day of 1st grade for Jared.  A 79 year old friend of the family fell 55 feet out of a tree.  Don't ask.  He's still alive!

 

SEPTEMBER 2005

 

September 9th:   First day of preschool for Klara.

 

September 17th:   Jared's first roadside stand...he sells muffins!

 

September 19th:   Jared loses his first front upper tooth.  He looks like a hockey player!  He wouldn't and still hasn't given it to the tooth fairy.  Why?  I don't know.

 

OCTOBER 2005

 

October 2nd:   Will pukes on me at church, I rip my pants at the church dinner, and my brakes go out in the van.  Nice day. Heh.

 

October 15th:   Rich's partner at work gets married.  We attend the wedding and it is lovely, however someone stole all the attendants' purses. 

 

October 17th:   We find out, thanks to Will, that Burt's Bees facial soap will take 5 days, a plunger, two bottles of draino, and a toilet auger to remove from a toilet.  Heh.

 

October 30th:   My 33rd birthday.  The good news?  I am still alive.  The bad news?  Jared has to go to the doctor for croup/asthma attack.   Lady at church falls down and breaks a hip, younger man at church has a stroke and dies the next day.  The beginning of the end for my friendship with a very good friend.

 

NOVEMBER 2005

 

November 3rd:  Attended the visitation of the man from church who had died. 

 

November 4th:   Klara has croup...I'm getting sick.  Just shoot me.

 

November 8th:   Moved my journal here to Mindsay!

 

November 22nd:   I got a wicked bad sinus infection and had to get a shot in my butt.  Why didn't you just shoot me back on the 4th like I asked?

 

November 25th:   Had a lovely Thanksgiving, despite the illness.  Had my parents down for the holiday and Mom spent the weekend.  Fun!  Yay!

 

November 30th:   It's official...my very good friend is gone. 

 

DECEMBER 2005

 

December 4th:   Had a slumber party with Holly!  Yay!

 

December 10th:   Yay!  Night out at a Christmas Party!  Thanks Stacie!

 

December 11th:   Went to an outdoor swimming party in 30 degree weather.  Fun!

 

December 13th:    My friend, Kathy, had her baby!  Yay!

 

December 16th:    Christmas party at our house for Rich's side.  Fun fun fun time!

 

December 17th:   Took the kids to a Christmas party.  More fun!  Saw Santa Claus!

 

December 18th:   Christmas party at my parents' house! 

 

December 22nd:   Happy 14th anniversary for Rich and I!

 

December 23rd:   Killed my first rooster....blah.

 

December 24th:   Celebrated Christmas early since Rich had to work on Christmas day.

 

December 29th:   Happy 2nd Birthday Will!

 

 

Whew....what a year.   It wasn't awful, but it could have been better.   I pray that 2006 has less injuries, illnesses, and deaths.  But I'm still here and so are all my kids, my husband, and the rest of my close family and friends.  I have very little to complain about.  I have a home, automobiles, and anything else I need.  God is good to us and we are blessed.  Happy New Year!
