Geering Up For The Fall

katmanndoo has needled me again and prompted me to stop by and update my journal.  Like I told her, I seem to run hot and cold with anything I do in life.  I either do something with gusto or not at all....nothing in between.  I just need to warm the water up, I guess, and start writing again.

We are all doing well here in WV.  Jared has went back to school and is in the second grade now.  He has a very strict teacher this year and seems to love her.  He is someone who needs strictness and structure, though, so this works out good.  Klara will be going back to preschool in the morning and going twice a week.  And Will is still momma's little cling-on at home.

I am now babysitting our nephew, Ethan, who is 14 months old.  He is a real sweetie and has fit in around here with ease.  He helps fill the baby gap I have had and is a lot of fun.  The kids love him, too, which makes it nice.

So what have I been up to lately?  Hmmm....I'm still mystery shopping and doing audits about once a week.  That has really proven to be a nice way to make some extra money.  Just enough extra to loosen the noose a little bit that starts to strangle us around the end of the pay period.  So that is a good thing.  Heck, last week I had several grocery stores and ended up getting like $100 in free groceries!  Can't get much better than that.

My gardening days are coming to a close.  Most everything has died off and even my new crop of late beans got eat by the yam deer.  I will plan better next year, that is for sure!  I am trying to think of ways to have an indoor greenhouse this winter so I can have a few little things (like TOMATOES!).  I'll write more about that when I come up with a solution.

I have been buying these cherry tomatoes from Sam's Club for a while now and they are soooo good.   They are called Nature Sweet Cherry Tomatoes and they are expensive.  So I go to their website to see if I can get some seeds.  Yeah, right.  It says,

"We are delighted you are enjoying the home-grown flavor of our NatureSweet tomatoes. Our tomatoes are available year-round; however, the seeds are proprietary to our company and not available for sale."

Well, duh!  I took one, single cherry tomato outside in June and squirted that bad boy in a pot of soil.  I now have about 12 really nice cherry tomato plants that are in full bloom!  I call them my "Secret Proprietary Cherry Tomatoes."  hahaha...   We'll see if the tomatoes are as good as the ones I get at Sam's.  I am hoping they aren't some kind of funky hybrid or genetically altered something that can't be reproduced using the seed.    I've very proud of the plants, however!

I might put me out some cool weather plants like leafy greens, brocolli, peas, etc and see how they do.  But I will be moving my baskets VERY close to the house so the idiot deer don't get them.  Grrrr....

Well I think I'm gonna get off of here and hit the hay.  I'll try to be more diligent with my postings and replies to others.  I apologize for being a putz!
