I didn't get a chance to write in my journal last night because I fell asleep on the couch watching CSI! Rich is wise to me though, he threw a cover on me and left me there. If he had woke me up, I would have stayed awake all night. I'm glad he just left me there, I feel refreshed today!
I'm still working on transferring my archives over to another service so that they are easy to browse through and are preserved. This is such a long and tedious process since bravejournal has no good way to export entries. Oh well....
I was very excited to call the bank yesterday! I was only going to discuss with them the fact that I absolutely HATE the auto bill payer that I was required to sign up for when we got our mortgage a short while back and that I wanted it discontinued immediately. This billpayer feature automatically takes money out of your account at their bank to pay the mortgage. Problem is that we don't have one of those banks nearby, so we don't bank with them, primarily. So we had to set up an account only to use their stupid billpayer feature to get a better interest rate at the time. This has been a major pain in my hind end and I wanted it to end.
Good news! Not only did I find out that we could discontinue that hateful billpayer, but the loan officer looked over our accounts and figured out that we could save over $100 a month if we refinanced! Yay us! So we spent most of our afternoon gathering paperwork up and going to the bank to sign some documents. Better yet? Since all of this will close before the end of the month of November, we won't have a payment until January! Can you say "no payment in December?" YES! This is soooo cool! So, that phone call paid off in a big way!
Everybody in this house of pestilence seems to be feeling better now and on the mend. Thank goodness that is over!
Ok, I am REALLY mad about this whole Andrea Yates fiasco. So she might be getting a retrial? All of this because of some erroneous information about her getting the idea to drown her kids in a bathtub because of an episode of Law & Order that didn't exist at the time of the murders? No...I don't think so.
Bottom line is this: SHE KILLED HER KIDS! There is no doubt about it! I don't care if she got the idea from an episode of Blues Clues or the Queen of England told her to do it. She did it and there is not a question of her guilt. I believe we are trying to pick apart and analyze the situation a little too much.
Last time I checked, it was illegal to kill your children. Am I wrong? Does it really matter why she did it? I think we can all agree that children are innocent and there really is no good reason to do what she did. It's not like she was defending herself against them!
Oh I guess we could talk about postpartum depression and her being crazy and all. Guess what? I don't buy it! I have HAD post partum depression and I know what it is like. There is no excuse for drowning five kids in a bathtub. I have felt pretty crazy before and I would rather LEAVE the house or KILL MYSELF than to kill my kids. Sorry, not buying that excuse. She had enough sense to call her husband and 911 when she was done, so she couldn't have been that crazy. What a waste of taxpayer money and judicial resources if this goes back for another trial.
Ok, I will step off the soapbox now. Mental note: must stop listening to the morning news while writing a journal entry!
Today I need to get control of this house. It is way overdue for several chores to be done and it can't be put off any longer. I will write more later....
