Jared got a small aquarium for his birthday and three goldfish, a snail, and a couple of dwarf frogs.   All was going well until today.  I got up and it looked like goldfish jonestown (well almost).  Even the spunky ones were at the bottom of the tank looking all pathetic.  "Bill" who has seemed very ratty and poorly since we got the tank was his normal sad self...hiding in his log. 

I don't know much about aquariums, but I decided I had better find out some info about it and quick.  I determined that they probably has ich (probably compliments of Bill).  So off to Wally World to get some things for the ailing fishies.  I picked up some malachite green with formalin.  It turned the water a cool green hue and they seemed to perk up quite a bit.  I also got an air pump and a air stone.  They had told us we didn't need this as the filter would keep it aerated enough...but I don't think so.  So now they have lots of bubblies.  I got testing strips, conditioners, and all manner of other potions to help my fishy friends.  Oh, and hey...did you know that fresh water fish (like goldfish) really need a small amount of salt in their water?  I was shocked and amazed!  Just a little tiny bit. 

Ohhhhh SNAP!  It seems that Gary the Snail doesn't care much for the ich medicine!  He is looking all pathetic now (and he was really active and cool before).  I look up info on him and yep...it's all toxic and bad for him!  Daggonit!  So I pick his sad little snail hide out of the water and put him in a casserole dish with fresh water.  I think he is going to live.

The frogs could not care one way or the other about anything I have done.  Good for them.

So the fish are all perky this evening and Gary is happily cruising around in his casserole dish (escargot anyone?  hahaha).  I'm leaving him there until the medications are done and I filter everything out.  I don't want any dead snails.

So that was my aquatic adventure today.  Any pointers would be much appreciated as I have no clue what I am doing.
